ITV’s hit bomb-disposal thriller starring multi-award-winning actor Vicky McClure as Metropolitan Police explosives officer Lana Washington. The first series was ITV’s best-performing drama of 2022, averaging 9.5 million viewers per episode, while Series Two averaged 8.1 million viewers and generated 30 million streams on ITVX. Across its first three series, Trigger Point has been streamed 91 million times and reached more than 20 million viewers; Series Three averaged 7 million viewers and was the fifth most-watched ITV drama of 2025 and seventh most-watched drama across all UK channels and streaming services.

Series One

Explosives officer Lana Washington and her partner Joel Nutkins are called to a bomb threat on a London housing estate, the beginning of a sophisticated bombing campaign that brings terror to the capital. As Lana’s team races to identify those responsible, she suffers devastating personal losses and discovers the attacks are being orchestrated by someone much closer to home than she imagined.

Series Two

Still traumatised by the deaths of her brother and colleague, Lana is drawn back into active duty when an explosion at a London power station signals the beginning of a coordinated terrorist campaign. As increasingly ambitious attacks target the capital and the heart of government, Lana and the Counter Terrorism team uncover a highly organised group exploiting insiders and turning Britain’s infrastructure against itself.

Series Three

Lana and the Bomb Disposal Squad investigate an unusual bomb threat that develops into a sinister campaign of revenge, with apparently unconnected individuals being deliberately targeted. Working alongside Counter Terrorism Command, the team must discover what links the victims and identify the bomber before an increasingly personal vendetta claims more lives.

Series Four

Lana faces her greatest challenge yet when a suspicious lorry travelling through London becomes the opening move in a major new attack on the capital. As a series of explosions reveals that the team is facing a highly organised group of professional mercenaries, Lana and her colleagues race from one threat to the next, culminating in a life-or-death attempt to prevent an attack capable of killing thousands.

Created by Daniel Brierley and produced by Jed Mercurio’s HTM Television, Trigger Point has grown into one of ITV’s flagship returning thriller brands. Series Three and Four are led by writer Chris Brandon, with executive producers across the later series including Jed Mercurio, Daniel Walker, Mark Redhead, Jessica Sharkey, Chris Brandon and Vicky McClure. Writers across the series include Simon Ashdown, Amanda Duke, Fflur Dafydd, Harlan Davies and Perrie Balthazar. The series was commissioned by ITV Director of Drama, Polly Hill.
